Medical Diabetic Eye Exam
Diabeties is one of the leading causes of blindness. In 2009, in the US alone, 20% of diabetics reported Vision Impairment.
Diabetes is very harmful to the eyes. It damages blood vessels in the retina (back of your eye) and this condition is called Diabetic Retinopathy.

Diabetics should get an Eye Exams every year
Diabetes also increases likelihood of Cataracts, Glaucoma, Severe Vision Loss and Blindness. This is why we recommend an annual examination with your Optometrist.
During a Diabetic Eye Exam, while performing a Comprehensive Eye Exam, the goal is to also check for the extent of damage caused to the blood vessels in:
- Front of the eye
- Lens
- Back of the Eye
The doctor will do this by dilating your eyes and using various optometry equipment to see the different parts of the eye.
Advanced Eye Clinic highly recommends their patients to use our Retinal Imaging Technology to take a photo of your retina and closely monitor the progression of the damage over time.
Every year we perform hundreds of Diabetic Eye Exams on our patients and have over 90% retention rate with our patients. This is why we are one of the leading Vision Center’s in Dallas-Fort Worth.
